Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

Thank you for being a regular visitor to my blog. I recommend subscribing to my RSS feed so that you never miss an update. :)

Affiliate marketing is one of the most simple, yet effective ways to earn some extra money online.  Because these affiliate marketing programs are so easy to join, and because they pay commissions on a regular basis, more and more people are now entering this business.

However, like all businesses, there are lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business.  Every day, these mistakes cost marketers a large portion of the profit they could be making.  Here are three of the most common mistakes, and how to avoid them.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate program.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible.  In their rush to get started, they tend to choose a bandwagon product.  This is the kind of product that the pros think is “hot”.  They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product specifically  appeals to them or their target audience .  This is not a very wise move obviously.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try top choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

In addition, when you try to market what the pros are selling, you subject yourself to alot of serious competiton.  While product “X” may be hot, if all the pros are pushing it, then there is probably a very small likelihood that you will make any sales of it.  When you’re starting out, you are better off focusing on products that may have a slightly smaller market, but also a much smaller competition base.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiples of them to try and maximize the earnings you’ll be getting.  Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income.  However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them.

The result?  The maximum potential of your affiliate promotions is not realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you were thinking initially it would.  When starting out, the best way to improve your results, is by joining just one program that pays at least 40% commission. Then give it your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. As soon as you see that it is making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can conisder joining another affiliate program.

The technique is to do it slowly but surely.  There is really no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing.  With the way things are going, the future is looking very bright and it looks like affiliate marketing is here to stay.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service to your customers.  For you to achieve this, you must be able to accurately relay the products benefits to the customers.  It is difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will be unable to create a desire in your customers to purchase what you are offering.

When possible, try the product or service personally before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises.  If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages.  Your customers will feel the sincerity and truthfulness in your rdcommendations, and this will trigger a stronger ‘Buy’ response from them.

In conlcusion:

Many affiliate marketers make these very mistakes and are paying dearly for their actions.  To not fall into the same situation they are in, try to do everything possible to avoid making these simple mistakes.

Time is the key.  Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track.  When done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing potential and earn higher profits.

Affiliate Funnel Review

Downline building has been around since the beginning of the internet. The offer is very exciting, let people know about your product or service, refer a few folks and presto, you are on your way to massive success. What’s the problem with this scenario though?

Simple, downline building isn’t as effective as it once was years ago. Sure there are people making lots of money online using their downlines and affiliate marketing strategies but during the past few years a change has been taking place.

It’s called the marketing funnel and if you think of the pyramid look of a ‘downline’, flip it!

Here’s how it works. Get as many people as you can into the top of your funnel and funnel them down into paying customers. Start with a free front end product or service and then let your marketing turn those free leads into paying customers and clients.

Affiliate Funnel is a service that does this plus so much more. It is an all in one business hub that shows you how to properly promote online using the best free resources around and channel these leads into a thriving downline. This is the power of a well put together marketing funnel, taking leads and turning them into clients.

Affiliate Funnel is owned by two guys who have built massive six figure businesses using free resources and their own marketing funnel. Paul Kinder and Jon Olson have put their experience in a bottle and packaged it for anyone to check out for free at:

With Paul’s help, I made some drastic changes to the way I did business. Before I knew it I was earning commissions and building a list.

I owe my success to online networking. As a result, I have become a big fan of it.  In the year since then, I have spent alot of time learning more about networking online.

Today I release my eBook Networking – The Evolution.  A culmination of all that I’ve learned about networking.   NTE is completely free to join.  Plus there is an option to rebrand the 40+ affiliate links in the book with your id’s.
